Waimanalo

Waimanalo is a 3 mile long on the Eastern, or Windward, side of the island. This pristine white sand beach is about a 45 minute drive from Waikiki and just a bit longer from Koolina. The location is specifically called Sherwood Beach and is located in a residential neighborhood. This is my favorite location for morning and I shoot here more then anywhere else on the island.

From Waikiki:

You have 2 options to travel to Waimanalo. You can either drive the scenic H-1 East Hwy route, around Makapu’u Pt and into Waimanalo, or take the Pali Hwy over to the Windward side and merge onto the Kalanianaole Hwy south towards Waimanalo. Either way, it’s about a 45 minute drive out to Waimanalo.

I would recommend taking the H-1 East scenic route, because it’s beautiful and a nice drive. Either way once you come to the Waimanalo McDonalds (located at 41-1033 Kalanianaole Hwy) you will turn, Drive to the end of Aloiloi road and park at the corner of Aloiloi and Laumilo, enter the beach through the chain link fence.

From Koolina:

Take H-1 East to H-3 East.
Take exit 11 to 83 towards Kailua.
Take a left on 61.
Take a right on Kalanianaole Hwy.
You will drive through the town of Waimanalo, once you come to the Waimanalo McDonalds (located at 41-1033 Kalanianaole Hwy) you will turn, Drive to the end of Aloiloi road and park at the corner of Aloiloi and Laumilo, enter the beach through the chain link fence.
